Over P3.2-M suspected shabu seized at Davao City Checkpoint
Authorities at the AFP-PNP Border Control Point in Barangay Lacson, Calinan District, Davao City seized a total of more than P3. 2 million suspected shabu on Sunday noontime (December 22).

The seizure occurred during intensified security checks conducted by Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) at all border control points. These operations are in accordance with Davao City Ordinance 048-22, series of 2022, which mandates enhanced safety and security measures during major events and in specified areas.

The suspects, identified as Ronnie Rey Sumo Domingo, 38, resident of Maramag, Bukidnon and Jeam Gulapo Cagalawan, 29, of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.

The suspects were traveling towards Davao City in a rented white Nissan Navarra (plate number JAS 8041).

A search of the vehicle yielded five jumbo sachets containing approximately 474.98 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P3,229,864. Authorities also recovered P10,000 in cash.

Colonel Rodrigo Mariñas Jr., Commander of Task Force Davao, praised the vigilance of the TFD and DCPO personnel at the Lacson checkpoint. He stated that these successive drug seizures demonstrate the effectiveness of the stringent checkpoint operations in preventing illegal items from entering the city and ensuring the safety of Davao City residents.

The confiscated evidence is now in the custody of Police Station 10 (PS10) of the DCPO for proper investigation and disposition.
