The former De La Salle University forward missed his trip to the Korean capital the day before the league, which resulted in missing the deadline for player registration, according to an article on the Korean basketball website Jumpball.
Baltazar, who previously played for Gilas Pilipinas, is still in the midst of his campaign with Strong Group Realty in the 32nd Dubai International Basketball Championship.
According to the website, the Thunders view the action as a breach of contract and intend to bring the issue before the KBL Finance Committee.
Samsung coach Eun Hee Seok emphasized that he is disappointed with the development because, should he choose to fill their gaping middle hole, it could result in injuries.
“I tried to use the quota system ambitiously, but it failed,” Eun Hee Seok said.
The 6-foot-8 Baltazar is the Thunders' third Filipino player to be signed, joining Canadian-Filipino Christian David and Will Navarro.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
