Illegal lumber, firearms seized at Davao City checkpoints
DAVAO CITY- Two individuals have been arrested for carrying illegal items in two separate occasions in the city on Friday, March 10.

Task Force (TF) Davao identified the arrested persons as Jerry Villacite, 30, and a resident of Purok 3, New Visayas, Trento, Agusan Del Sur and Jamel Aloyodan, 39, and a resident of Lumbatan, Lanao Del Sur.

Villacite who was on board an Isuzu Elf bearing plate number MCV 6955 were flagged down by the police and military at AFP-PNP Border Control Point in Brgy Eden, this city for carrying a total of 15 pieces of illegal lumbers (Gimelina), with an estimated worth of P30,000.00

Aloyodan who was onboard a black Fortuner bearing plate number NFE 2915 travelling towards Davao City was arrested for bringing illegal firearms at around 8:40pm.

Seized from his possession were a Caliber .45 bearing SN:45072SP, magazine, and four bullets.

TF Davao Commander Colonel Darren E. Comia vowed to intensify the checking of all trucks entering Davao City that might carry illegal forest products. 

Comia lauded the troops on this accomplishment, stressing the need to coordinate with local and national agencies to further strengthen Davao City's borders to ensure the safety and security here.

Villacite is now placed under the custody of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) as charges related to  violation of illegal possession of forest products are being prepared.

Aloyodan, meanwhile, is currently detained at Calinan Police Station for proper disposition.
