The case was filed before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Digos City and signed by Attorney Jema Lavilla-Rosalem, Assistant Provincial Prosecutor, Davao del Sur.
Meanwhile, a separate case will be filed by North Cotabato PNP against Sabas for allegedly killing a bus passenger.
PRO 11 further reported that Sabas also tested positive for illegal drugs use after a drug screening and confirmatory examinations conducted by the Regional Forensic Unit 11.
Sabas allegedly shot dead a passenger inside the bus traveling from Barangay Batasan, Makilala, North Cotabato to Davao City.
The suspect also shot two police officers manning a border checkpoint in Barangay New Opon, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
Sabas immediately fled with his live-in partner after the incident, however, he was arrested shortly after a hot operation was launched.
The injured police officers are still recuperating at Digos City Hospital while Sabas is currently under the custody of Magsaysay Municipal Police Station in Davao del Sur.
Meanwhile, the PNP National Headquarters and PRO 11 gave a total of P300, 000 cash assistance to the two wounded police officers.
They are also assured of the constant support of the PNP throughout their medication.
PRO 11 Director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete commended the swift actions of the police teams involved in the arrest of the suspect.
"This incident highlights the dedication and professionalism of our personnel in ensuring public safety," he said.
Rosete also extends his deepest admiration for the two officers injured in the line of duty.
He said, "their courage and selflessness are truly inspiring."
