The four soldiers under the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division who were accused for the killing of Davao City entrepreneur and model Yvonette Plaza are now in the detention facility of Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

Colonel Michael Licyayo, Sergeant Gilbert Plaza, Sergeant Delfin Sialsa Jr., and Corporal Adrian Cachero is now detained at the custodial facility inside Camp Captain, Domingo E. Leonor, San Pedro Street, Davao City after they were arrested on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 18).

The said soldiers were linked to the murder of Plaza on December 29, 2022 outside of her residence in Barangay Mintal, Davao City.

The warrant officers of San Pedro Police Station served the warrant issued by Judge Mario Duaves, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) 11 Branch 15 on September 22, against the accused at 10th ID Headquarters in Mawab, Davao de Oro.

The court recommended no bail for the arrest of the  four accused soldiers.

Former 1001st Brigade commander Brigadier General Jesus Durante who was first linked and included in Plaza murder case was dismissed by the City Prosecutor’s Office due to lack of probable cause that would link him as alleged mastermind of killing Plaza.

However, according to 10th ID spokesman Major Mark Anthony Tito that Durante and the four accused are still under the Philippine Army’s court martial proceedings for administrative charges.

Licyayo was Durante’s deputy commander of 1001st Brigade based in Maco, Davao de Oro, while the three other soldiers were also members of the brigade.
