19 human smuggling victims rescued in Tawi-Tawi
DAVAO CITY- More victims of trafficking in persons (TIP) were rescued by the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) Bongao Port, Poblacion, Tawi-Tawi on Tuesday (Feb. 7).

PNP-SAF in its report said that 19 persons, including a minor and 2 toddlers who are victims of TIP and human smuggling were rescued by the authorities.

The victims all came from the Zamboanga Peninsula to be transported to Malaysia and other countries using the Tawi-Tawi backdoor without protection from the government. Some will be forced to work as guest relation officers (GROs) and construction workers in their destinations.

Last month, the PNP-SAF with partner agencies and in coordination with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) were also able to rescue 41 TIP victims.

A total of 60 TIP and human smuggling victims, including minors and toddlers were already rescued by law enforcers.
