Santo Tomas LGU gets P50-M PAGCOR grant for evacuation facility
DAVAO CITY — The Municipal Government of Santo Tomas, Davao City is set to seal its partnership with the state-run gaming agency Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) after it approved the funding for the construction of a Multi-Purpose Evacuation Center (MPEC) in Barangay Tibal-og.

This developed after Municipal Administrator lawyer Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña confirmed on Sunday that PAGCOR has approved already the request made by Mayor Ernesto Evangelista with regards to the Multi-Purpose Evacuation Center.

“We are thankful for PAGCOR’s leadership and management after they approved our request since the facility that will be funded is expected to enhance our disaster response efforts being implemented by the MDRRMO under the #ListoSiTomas Program,” she said in a statement released on Sunday (Feb. 15).

Evangelista-Lapiña said the Multi-Purpose Evacuation Center will further assist Tomasinos during crisis situations.

The Municipal Administrator said she thanked PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo for having this kind of project which would help the Santo Tomas LGU in building more emergency structures and provide a facility for Tomasino constituents during calamities and other emergency situations.

“Ginabuhat nato kining tanang kay tungod sa atong panglantaw na atoang mapalapdan ug mapakusgan ang mga programa ug serbisyo para sa katawhang Tomasino. Dako atong pasalamat sa PAGCOR kay nahimo nato silang enabling partner para sa kalambuan sa atong lungsod,” she said.
