In a press release issued on November 7, PS2 San Pedro acting Station commander, Major Robel Saavedra said it had coordinated with the concerned school administration following reports of the incident circulating on social media.
The police stressed that minors involved in disturbances must still undergo appropriate intervention, while their parents or guardians may be held civilly liable for damages caused by their children, in accordance with applicable laws.
“We wish to remind the public that even when minors are involved, accountability remains,” Saavedra said.
The involved students will undergo the appropriate intervention and diversion processes under Republic Act No. 9344, or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.
Police also urged young people to be responsible for their actions, warning that involvement in disturbances could have consequences that may affect their future.
Meanwhile, Saavedra cautioned the public against posting photos, names, or personal information of minors involved in incidents on social media, reminding everyone to respect their privacy and rights under existing laws.
“Instead of recording and sharing videos, please report incidents immediately to the proper authorities so we can respond appropriately and ensure everyone's safety,” he said.
The public may report incidents to the PS2 San Pedro hotline at 0998-598-7057 or through the national emergency hotline 911.
