The 1st Mayor Rodrigo Duterte Run wasn’t just a race. It was a movement. A homecoming in spirit. A heartfelt call to bring home a man who shaped Davao and inspired millions.
Participants of all ages and backgrounds ran in categories ranging from 1K to 21K — from children taking their first stride to seasoned athletes chasing the finish line. Each step, each breath, was more than physical effort. It was a message, “Bring Tatay Digong back home”.
The event was organized by the On Any Sunday Rider Club and Orango Tribe, and was joined by Councilor Rigo Duterte, who shared a stirring message on behalf of Vice Mayor Baste Duterte.
“Gipaabot sa akong tiyo nga si Vice Mayor Baste Duterte ang among dakong pasalamat sa inyong tanan nga miapil ug misuporta sa 1st Mayor Rodrigo Duterte Run. Sa ngalan sa among pamilya ug sa among lolo nga si former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte — daghang salamat sa inyong padayon nga gugma ug pagsalig,” he told the crowd.
“This run is more than just a race — it’s a symbol of unity and our love for Davao. Sa inyong pag-apil, gipakita ninyo nga buhi gihapon ang legacy ni Tatay Digong. Hangyo lang ko, padayon ta sa panawagan — Bring Tatay Digong back home. Dili lang ni para sa amo, kundi para sa tibuok katawhan,” the acting vice mayor added.
As the runners reached the halfway mark, a light drizzle began to fall. But instead of slowing down, the participants pressed on — some raising their faces to the sky, others laughing through the raindrops.
The brief rain did nothing to dampen spirits. If anything, it added a touch of drama and a burst of raw emotion. It became clear — nothing could stop this crowd, not even the weather.
The scene was moving. Supporters on the sidelines cheered louder, umbrellas in hand. Emergency volunteers kept watch, and the city’s residents — young and old — stood in solidarity.
Around the venue, loyal PRRD vloggers captured every moment, while banners bearing DU30 and a Philippine flag waved proudly in the wind.

As the medals were awarded and tired but smiling runners embraced their teammates and families, the energy lingered.
It wasn’t about who ran the fastest. It was about what the run stood for — a city’s gratitude, a family’s call, and a people’s love for a man who once led them with fire, grit, and heart.
The run may have ended at the finish line, but the call continues to echo through the streets of Davao — Bring Tatay Digong back home.
One stride. One prayer. One city united.
