North Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza led the distribution of assistance to the former NPA rebels and its supporters together with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Provincial Task Force on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict of Cotabato Province.
Each PO received P300,000 as livelihood aid and a Certificate of Accreditation.
The respective presidents and treasurers of the five organizations from Makilala, nine from President Roxas, four from Tulunan and four from Antipas all from Cotabato Province personally received the checks in behalf of their respective organizations.
The 22 POs had been organized by the Philippine Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion and 72nd Infantry Battalion under 10th Infantry Division after they withdrew their support to the NPA and when their communities were declared insurgency cleared.
The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) is a community-based development program geared towards improving the socio-economic status of the POs and their respective communities.
