3 soldiers die, 6 hurt in Davao de Oro car crash
DAVAO CITY - Three members of the Philippine Army's 25th Infantry Battalion on board a military truck died and six others were injured following an accident in Barangay Andap, New Bataan, Davao de Oro, early Saturday morning, May 18

The fatalities were dentified as the military vehicle driver PFC Jaynor Makakua.  Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) Reynaldo Balaga, and Ferlan Conception.

The  injured soldiers were  1Lt. Fidel Castro Jr., Sgt. Michael Arzaga, and Private Jonel Alvarado, Cpl. Emil Joy S. Mission, CAAs  Jay Ar Bale and Kim Ardel Castro.

New Bataan Municipal Police Station reported the victims were heading to Prk. 12 Sitio Boston, Barangay Andap, New Bataan, Davao de Oro from Poblacion to provide security for the groundbreaking ceremony and signing of Inter-local Agency Partnership for a five Kilometer Farm-to-Market Road Opening Project when the accident occurred. 

However, after reaching a hilly portion of Prk. 12 in Sitio Langag, the military truck (KM 450) suffered an engine malfunction, and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which  resulted in the accident and fell into the river. 

The injured troopers  are currently under medication at the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital in Montevista town.
