Police identified the victim as alias Earl and a resident of the area. The suspect remains unidentified.
Initial investigation showed that a witness heard several gunshots at around 7:30 p.m. and later found the victim lying on the ground. The witness immediately alerted Central 911 for police and medical assistance.
Responding medical personnel found the victim with no signs of life.
The Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) team recovered five fired .45-caliber cartridge cases at the scene. These were turned over to the Davao City Forensic Unit 11 for examination.
The victim’s remains were brought to his residence pending traditional Islamic burial rites.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify the gunman and determine the motive.
