Captain Mark Anthony Tito, the spokesman of 10th ID said the money was part of their subsistence allowance used for their needs like food.
He said the fund was used to buy 1,000 hygiene kits including toothpastes, toothbrushes, slippers, mosquito nets, bath soaps, detergent bars, packs of coffee, and pales.
The 10th Civil-Military Operations (CMO) Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Magdalena Custodio together with the 6th CMO Battalion of the 6th Infantry Division, and the Local Government Unit of Datu Blah Sinsuat distributed the relief packs to the residents of Barangay Pura and Barangay Matuber both in Datu Blah Sinsuat on November 14.
Meanwhile, a total of 720 families benefited from the relief operations also conducted by 10th ID and the Kiwanis International Philippines South District to the affected residents of Barangay Delican and Barangay Kusiong both in Datu Odin Sinsuat on November 13. The relief packs include five kilograms of rice, canned goods, noodles, and pre-loved clothing.
Major General Nolasco A Mempin, 10ID Commander emphasized the importance of helping each other during trying times such as disasters and calamities.
"Our service to our fellow countrymen does not only limit to security. It is also our honor and pride as soldiers, to help in any way we could anytime, anywhere," Mempin said.
