DAVAO CITY—The World Para Swimming (WPS) World Series will be held in Singapore from April 26 to May 2 and will feature a nine-person Philippine para-swimming squad led by veteran Davaoeo paralympic swimming star Ernie Gawilan.
Ariel Alegarbes, Angel Otom, Gary Bejino, Roland Sabido, Arnel Aba, Edwin Villanueva, Muhaimin Ulag, and Marco Tinamisan, all triple gold medalists at the 2022 Asean Para Games, will compete alongside Gawilan.
Coaches Brian Ong, Ral Rosario, and Antonio Ong are also in the delegation.
The competition, which will prepare Filipino para swimmers for the Asean Para Games, will also be a qualifying event for the World Championships, which will be held in Manchester from July 26 to August 7, and the Asian Para Games, which will be held in Hangzhou, China, in October.
Together with Adrian Azul, Beariza Roble, and Claire Calizo, the nine para-swimmers are the nation's bets for the June Asean Para Games in Cambodia. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
