TF Davao to advocate culture of security to schoolchildren
DAVAO City (PIA) -The Task Force Davao wants to teach the culture of security to children in both public and private elementary and high schools.

Speaking at the AFP-PNP Press Corps Briefing on Wednesday at The Royal Mandaya Hotel  Colonel Darren Comia, commander of the Task Force Davao bared that he wants the schoolchildren to develop as early as now, the culture of volunteerism, reporting, reminding and their participation in all security activities happening in their respective areas.

He said the understanding of the culture of security must be developed as young as they are, by way of integrating in their way of thinking, so that as they grow old, they will do these things consciously or unconsciously.

Comia said that yesterday, the Task Force Davao was in touched with the District Supervisors and saw for themselves that there is no militarization in this pursuit.

He said the culture of security is presented to elementary and high school students in form of a five-minute video clip which the students can watch during the lull periods, like in between or after classes.

Comia said the video clip contains how the students can help in maintaining the peace and order in Davao City.

“They can show the video clip to the students using their LCD projectors.  By continuously, airing this video clip to the children, the culture of security will eventually develop in them,” he said.

He said the reporting and participation of people are crucial to maintain the peace and security of the city.

Comia stressed that the advocacy on the culture of security must be done in all sectors in Davao City.

He said that in 2023, the TF Davao is focusing their attention to schoolchildren in elementary and high schools.

However, Comia underscored that the TF Davao will be going back to sectors like the transport sector to refresh their memory on the culture of security and we have to constantly remind them of the security activities.

“The culture of security in Davao City is alive.  We have received and responded to many calls given to us by the Davaoenos.  We are happy to the reception and learning of the Davaoenos, as they respond to the safety and security of Davao City,” he said. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
