The PWDs were able to register within the cut-off period, or on or before October 31, 2025, PDAO Head Atty. Redendo Martinez told reporters on Tuesday.
“Naghatag ta og cut-off as of October 2025 kadtong niaging tuig kadtong maka-receive lang sa financial assistance nga ihatag sa atoang city. So by this year naapil siya sa supplemental budget that will be distributed tentatively by June or July karong tuiga, so kadtong narehistro prior to October 31, 2025 mao rato’y maka-avail,” Martinez said.
He clarified, however, that those who registered starting November 2025 will be included in a separate distribution year.
“As to persons with disability nga nag-register November thereafter, 2027 na sila, and that time ang cut-off will be in accordance with the ordinance which is March 31, 2026, ” Martinez said.
Martinez said there will be no distinction or discrimination in the distribution of the financial assistance.
“Tanang klase nga disabilities regardless if you are a doctor, you are a lawyer, basta registered ka as person with disability, regardless of your status, you can avail of the 1,500 pesos annual subsidy,” he said.
Martinez said PWDs who are unable to personally claim their financial assistance will be given a five-day window to do so. If the subsidy remains unclaimed, it will be deposited with the City Treasurer and, after the prescribed period, returned to the city’s funds.
“Dapat sila gyud personally naa, but in the event nga nay mga instances nga mga bedridden, kinahanglan lang og authorization letter and of course, to be transparent, kinahanglan ang picture nga bedridden gyud ang principal. For those who are living in the far-flung areas, kung dili sila makaadto, pwede man sila makahatag og authorization letter, "he said.
He added that the distribution of the subsidy will follow the same system used for senior citizens, with beneficiaries claiming their assistance per district based on a set schedule.
Martinez said the city government is doing its best to reach out to PWDs, especially those living in far-flung areas, to ensure they can avail of the service.
Meanwhile, Martinez warned Dabawenyos to rely only on authorized sources for information regarding the distribution of the assistance.
“Sa atong kaigsuunan nga Dabawenyo, atong distribution sa subsidy is tentative pa, dili sunod bulan kundili either June or July. Sa karon, naa pa sa plenary under the supplemental budget ang atong budget allocation para diha. Per instruction ni Acting Mayor Baste, as much as possible it will be released earlier than that. Kung nay nagpatapok, kadtong naga-lista kuno nga mao mauna sa assistance, walay ingon ana. It will be the instruction of the CSWDO office ang atong i-follow or dinhi sa atong opisina. Dili ta magpa-ilad. We have to verify sa atong district CSWDO personnel. Mao to ang akong pahimangno sa tanan, ” Martinez said.
