OVP Deploys Kalusugan Food Truck to Aid Earthquake Response Operations in General Santos City
GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The Office of the Vice President has deployed its Kalusugan Food Truck to support ongoing search, rescue, and retrieval operations following the powerful earthquake that struck parts of Southern Mindanao on Monday, June

Through the OVP Disaster Operations Center (DOC) and the Southern Mindanao Satellite Office, the Kalusugan Food Truck will provide hot meals to frontliners working tirelessly in the disaster response effort.

The food truck is currently stationed near the collapsed Save More building in Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City, one of the areas heavily affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck General Santos City and nearby localities in South Cotabato.

The quake caused significant damage to infrastructure and prompted large-scale emergency response operations across the region.

Search, rescue, and retrieval operations remain ongoing at the site amid reports of possible trapped victims beneath the rubble.

Approximately 150 frontliners—including responders, rescuers, medical personnel, and support staff from various agencies—are currently deployed in the area.

“The Office of the Vice President recognizes the dedication and sacrifice of our frontliners who continue to serve under difficult and hazardous conditions,” the OVP said.

The deployment forms part of the OVP’s broader disaster response efforts being coordinated through the Disaster Operations Center and implemented by its Southern Mindanao Satellite Office in close coordination with local government units, emergency response teams, and partner agencies.

The OVP continues to closely monitor developments on the ground and remains ready to augment ongoing humanitarian assistance, relief, and recovery efforts for communities affected by the earthquake.
