Major Mark Anthony Tito, spokesman of 10th ID in a report identified the slain New People’s Army (NPA) rebels as Mutong Bago, alias “Amatung" of the NPA’s Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad (SRSDG) Peddler, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), and alias Jerby.
According to Tito, the command has effectively prevented the CTG from reinfiltrating the insurgency-free Region 11 through three successive armed encounters at the boundaries of the Davao Region on November 18 and 24.
Amatung was killed following an encounter at Barangay Kipaypayon and Barangay Lumintao, Quezon, Bukidnon on November 24.
Jerby, who was the commanding officer and Political Instructor of the Regional Sentro De Grabidad (RSDG) of the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) died in a clash with members of the 67th Infantry Battalion on November 18 at Barangay Marfil, Rosario, Agusan Del Sur.
The government troops seized two M16 rifles at the encounter sites.
Brigadier General Allan D Hambala, Commander of the 10th ID in a statement emphasized that these NPA groups are posing direct threats to an insurgency-free Davao Region as both CTG regional committees attempted to reinfiltrate and reorganize their lost mass base at the boundaries to discredit the government.
"The people of Region 11, supported by the Local Government Units and different government agencies, worked hand in hand in attaining an insurgency-free Davao Region,” Hambala said.
Hambala encouraged the public to be consistently vigilant and help the government prevent the CTG infiltration by continuously supporting the government's efforts for peace and development.
10th ID already recorded nine armed engagements against the CTG outside Region 11 from January 2023 to November.
