DAVAO CITY- The Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry (Agila) Division has officially activated the Election Duty Battalion (EDBn) in a ceremony held at Agila Hall, Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr., in Mawab, Davao De Oro on Monday (October 23).

This battalion, according to Major Mark Anthony Tito, 10th ID spokesman, is composed of 400 soldiers who are tasked to secure Monday’s (Oct. 30) Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections.

This comprises four companies, consisting of officers and enlisted personnel from the 10ID, under Lieutenant Colonel Orly D. Brigoli as the commanding officer.

Tito said the activation of EDBn will ensure the safety, security, fair, and free conduct of the BSKE within the 10ID's area of responsibility.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) 11 had earlier organized a two-day seminar for this battalion to equip them with the necessary knowledge and understanding for their election duty.

10th ID acting assistant division commander, Colonel Febie Lamerez encouraged the troops to remain neutral and nonpartisan, and to focus on safeguarding the integrity of the elections.
