Davao City inflation slows in May, remains lowest in Davao Region

Davao City recorded a 5.7-percent inflation rate in May 2026, down by 1.3 percentage points from 7 percent in April, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority- Davao Region Inflation Report for the month of May issued, which was on June 11, 2026.

The data showed that while inflation rates in neighboring provinces also declined, Davao City maintained the lowest inflation rate in the Davao Region. 

Davao Region's headline inflation rate in May stood at 7.8, which is lower compared to 8.9 in the month of April.

For the month of May, the following inflation rates were recorded: Davao del Norte Norte (8.3), Davao Oriental (10.5), Davao Occidental (11.2), Davao del sur (9.3), and Davao de Oro (11.5).

PSA said Davao City's main source of deceleration is the lower inflation rate of food and non-alcoholic  beverages (5.5 in May from 7.8 in April), transport (14.5 in May from 18.6 in April), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.3 in May from 3.6 in April).

Major contributors to Davao City's May 2026 inflation is food and alcoholic beverages (36.8 percent), transport (25.1 percent), and housing, water, electricity gas and other fuels (22.2 percent).

The Philippine over-all headline inflation also eased to 6.8 in May 2026 from 7.2 percent in April 2026.
