Sara is PH next vice president, says teacher
DAVAO CITY- “I think she will be vice president of the country and she will really be a good leader; she will,” Leni Hernandez, the high school English teacher of mayor and vice presidential aspirant Sara said.

Speaking in Sara All For You episode on Thursday (Feb. 24) Hernandez said they did not see it coming of what Sara has now become being a typical happy teenager back then, very humble and simple, and  never braggy about her father(President Rodrigo Duterte) as mayor of this city. Hernandez,  a teacher of the Philippine Women’s College for 28 years was Sara’s first year and fourth year high school English teacher.

“I am here to encourage her to be a good influence to the Filipino citizenry. Fly high “Agila”. Show to our countrymen your capability to become a national leader. Let your detractors criticize you. Just  continue to show and extend your heartfelt service to the Filipino people,” Hernandez said.

She said she did not expect Sara to become a successful politician.

“Honestly, I did not think about it because she was seemingly detached from her father being a politician. She maintains a very low profile.  We cannot predict the success of our students in the future,” she said.

“We (teachers) believe each child has his own time for blooming. We have what we call as late bloomers, and Sara is one of those late bloomers,” she continued

She also said the values of being humble, down-to-earth, simple, helpful, and just are innate in Sara.

“She enjoyed her friends who were either rich or poor. I’d like to note that she was never choosy among friends. I really saw in Sara when she was still in high school; she is a person who is very humble, unassuming, and never a spoiled brat; you know her father was already the mayor of the city but she never used her father’s position to influence us; she was very humble and she respected us teachers,” Hernandez narrates.

What she cannot forget about Sara is her being a helpful person. She reminisced when Sara’s fourth year high school adviser was hospitalized; Sara came to extend help early in the morning, she said. “Her adviser was my best friend,” she added.

Sometimes, Sara got a scolding for the little mischiefs, however, she never held grudges, Hernandez continued.
