PNP chief warns cops against cockfighting, e-sabong
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Dionardo Carlos reminded police personnel not to involve themselves in cockfighting, including online ‘Sabong’.

Carlos’ statement came after the recent incidents of missing ‘Sabungeros’ or persons engaged in cockfighting in Metro Manila.

According to him, this does not give a good impression in their conduct as law enforcers.

“The bottom line is, we discourage our personnel from engaging in gambling activities as this does not augur well with their professional and personal values,” Carlos said.

Carlos added that he dislikes receiving reports of police officers who are spending time betting in cockfights or e-sabong hubs instead of focusing on their work.

The top cop said he will definitely monitor the activities of his men, adding that the PNP intensifies its drive against any form of illegal gambling with the proliferation of off cock betting stations.

“They are not above the law. Once caught, the PNP won’t hesitate to arrest those who are involved in this illicit activity,” he said,

Carlos encouraged the public to report any incident regarding the illegal cockfighting operation through
