P18-M worth of shabu seized in Davao City checkpoint
Suspected shabu weighing about 1.140 kilograms valued at P18. 2 million was seized in AFP-PNP checkpoint in Barangay Sirawan, Toril, Davao City on Sunday afternoon, June 25.

Task Force Davao commander Colonel Darren Comia in a press conference Monday afternoon, June 26 said that the military and police confiscated from the two persons onboard a black Mitsubishi Montero bearing plate number LAJ 5538 from Midsayap, North Cotabato.

Comia identified the suspects as Cresil Jay Lacia and Antonio Palacios Jr. , both residing in New Corella, Davao del Norte. Apart from the suspects, five other passengers also on board the vehicle including two seniors and three children.

Comia said the drugs were put in a small brown envelope with an exposed transparent plastic sachet containing the suspected shabu placed at the front passenger floor.

The authorities also discovered another two transparent cellophanes containing 19 pcs. small brown envelope of suspected shabu. 

Davao City Police Office in its report said that the suspects were arrested and currently detained at Toril Police Station pending conduct of inquest proceedings for violation of RA 9165.

The seized drugs were turn-over to Davao City Forensic Unit for examination and safekeeping.

According to Comia, this is the biggest haul of illegal drugs for two years under his watch.

Comia lauded the troops who made the catch of the said illegal drugs.

From July 2021 up to present, Task Force Davao already intercepted a total of P36.7 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 365 individuals.
