KIDAPAWAN CITY, NORTH COTABATO: The administration of Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño Mendoza here has committed to fast track the immediate completion of mothballed Central Mindanao Airport development project, also known as M’lang airport of said province.

In her first 100 days report here on Monday, (Oct.24) Mendoza said that various coordinative meetings have already been conducted with the Department of Tourism (DOT) , Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) relative to the development and status of the airport.

Mendoza, and Third District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha Taliño-Santos met in late August this year with DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan and discussed the airport project, which had been revived since the previous Duterte administration.

“Our provincial legal office is taking charge of documentation and processing of the individual transfer and titling of acquired lots for the eventual release of the certificates of title from the Registry of Deeds,” according to Taliño, addressing several government officials and stakeholders who attended the event.

Mendoza said the establishment of the Central Mindanao Airport will serve as a vital enabler to boost economic growth and development in Cotabato Province.

It will also serve domestic passengers on top of transporting agricultural products coming from the area and its neighboring provinces.

The official confirms that she will be leaving for Manila together with a team of stakeholders, and Congresswoman Santos this week to do a pitch for possible locators and airline companies.

“Mahalaga ang turismo dahil dagdag sa kita ng bawat Cotabateño . The challenge, is how we balance tourism and making sure the safety of our environment,” she said.

Mendoza vowed to refocus on the project as this will be her major development agenda.

The project, a brainchild of former governor Manny Piñol, was begun during the latter’s term as governor of the province from 1998 to 2007.

However, the project had been mothballed by succeeding leaderships.
