The regional office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the request for modification of jeepney routes in Toril, Davao City.

The request of the city through the Sangguniang Panlungsod for the LTFRB to create a Legal and Technical Advice Working Group to look into additional road access for the Public Utility Jeepneys where the Davao Food Terminal Complex (DFTC) is located.

The request aims to address the transport demand with the recent opening of DFTC.

In an Office Circular No. 07 Series of 2022, LTFRB 11 Regional Director Nonito A. Llanos III has approved the expansion of the Toril-Roxas, Daliaon, and Daliao Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) routes to include the Davao City Food Terminal located at M. Guardian St. Barangay Daliao, Toril, Davao City.

On September 14, this year, a consultation meeting was held together with the concerned agencies and affected drivers and operators of the said three routes.

The City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on September 21, 2022, endorsed the LTFRB documents relating to the request.

The circular shall take effect immediately and shall continue to be valid unless sooner amended/lifted.

Davao City Agriculturist Office (CAgro) Officer-in-Charge Edgardo Haspe in an interview with CIO during the formal opening of the facility last October 18, 2022 said that their Office has partnered with various agencies including national government offices to support DFTC.

The office also offered transportation assistance to farmers with two trucks, 7 metric tons capacity each, to transport their products from far-flung areas.

Haspe said that DFTC provides commonplace for farmers, and producers to sell their products and for traders to buy vegetables and fruits sourced from the city and neighboring municipalities.

DFTC is open 24/7 for wholesale of fruit and vegetable products, five kilograms and above. Parking fees, space rental fees, and dropping fees are waived for the first six months.
