There are four gold medals, two silver medals, and 15 bronze medals. This is how many medals the Philippines won at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
This was the country's best performance in a long time since the 1962 Asian Games, which were also held in Jakarta. Back then, the country won seven gold medals and a total of 37 medals.
The aim for this year's Hangzhou Asian Games is clearly to improve the country's overall performance. And the words written on the wall show that this big goal is possible to achieve.
1 weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz and skateboarder Margielyn Didal, who have won gold medals in the past, will lead the Philippines' team. EJ Obiena is a pole vaulter.
Diaz and Didal are still strong contenders for medals, but winning the gold will be more challenging.
Diaz, who won a gold medal in the women's 53kg category at the 2018 Asian Games, will now compete in the 59kg division. In this new weight class, she will face opponents who are larger and weigh more than before.
Didal took a break from skateboarding for a year because of an injury. Right now, she is ranked as the 43rd best skateboarder in street skateboarding.
Fourteen other Asian athletes are also above Didal in the rankings, including the world's number one. Momiji Nishiya is a young girl. Out of these 14 people, 9 are from Japan, 4 are from China, and 1 is from South Korea.
