DAVAO CITY - Three miners reportedly died due to gas poisoning while working inside the gold tunnel mining area at Purok 50, Sitio Diat, Barangay Napnapan, Pantukan town in Davao de Oro on Saturday afternoon (Mar.11).
Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 identified the fatalities as Jelbert Lastimado, 25, Arjie Jayson, 23, and Jolito Torifel, 25. They are all residents of Purok 2, Tibagon, Pantukan in said province.
Sketchy reports claimed that the victims' death was caused by alleged suffocation from natural poisonous gas that leaked inside the tunnel allegedly owned by a certain Rudy Tizon.
The remains of the victims were retrieved at around 3 a.m Sunday (Mar. 12).
