In its report, Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 identified the victim as Pedro J. Samillano Jr., 62, widow, and a resident of Purok 15, Amakan Village, Brgy. Poblacion, Monkayo in said province.
Initial investigation showed that the victim had just arrived and parked his driven Toyota Innova in front of his house when one of the male suspects onboard a motorcycle shot the victim several times, at around 8:32 p.m. near his residence.
The suspects fled heading to an unknown direction.
The victim was rushed to Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital in Montevista town but was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician.
Personnel of the Provincial Crime Laboratory recovered in the crime scene three fired cartridge cases of caliber .45, two deformed slugs, and one cellular phone.
The local police are conducting follow-up investigations and operations to apprehend the suspects.
Semillano was the second village chief in Davao de Oro who was killed by still unidentified suspects this month.
On June 20, the village chief of Barangay Kinuban, Maco identified as Elizalde Malcampo was also shot by unknown assailant in Barangay Andili.
