Cotabato LGBTQIA+ community shines in colorful Kulayaan 2025
Kabacan, Cotabato Province – The vibrant spirit of inclusivity and pride echoed across the University of Southern Mindanao auditorium on Saturday night as the Kulayaan 2025 culminated in the grand coronation of the Cotabato Kulayaan Queen 2025. The successful event once again affirmed the LGBTQIA+ community’s place in society, celebrating their identity under the theme of unity and belonging.

The highlights of Kulayaan 2025 included a colorful street dancing competition, a float parade, and the much-anticipated "Search for Kulayaan Queen 2025", which featured 23 dazzling candidates representing various towns across the province.

A brainchild of 3rd District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha Taliño-Santos, the activity was fully supported by Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, under her advocacy of Serbisyong Totoo along with newly elected Vice Governor Rochella Marie Taliño Taray. 

In an interview, Rep. Santos said the Kulayaan event, and especially the Kulayaan Queen pageant, is a pilot project designed to uplift and empower marginalized sectors.

“We wanted to create programs specifically for the marginalized, and the Kulayaan is one of them,” Santos said. “This includes support for women and the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Santos also highlighted the inclusive services offered during the event, such as free manicures, pedicures, and other beauty services provided by the candidates, showcasing both talent and compassion.

She emphasized that beyond celebration, the Kulayaan aims to promote acceptance, unity, and equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Yuan Gubaton, representing the municipality of President Roxas, was crowned Cotabato Kulayaan Queen 2025, standing out among 23remarkable candidates with her grace, wit, and talent. The USM auditorium was packed with cheering supporters, signaling strong community backing for the event.

Now in its second year, the Kulayaan Queen pageant, which debuted in 2024, continues to serve as a powerful platform for diversity and inclusivity in Cotabato Province.

Other winners of the night included: Miss Tourism-Jayson Sore of Pigcawayan, 1st Runner-Up- Deanna Dianna of the 3rd District Contractors Association, 2nd Runner-Up-Alvin Kier Gaeng of Kabacan, and Khiara Lumantao-  Gugmaug Serbisyo – Kidapawan City

As the celebration came to a close, it left a powerful message: in Cotabato, everyone belongs, and every voice, every identity, is celebrated.
