Brgy.  Capt.  candidate shot dead in Montevista town, Davao de Oro
DAVAO CITY- Two unidentified assailants shot dead an aspiring Barangay Chairman while on their campaign sorties with companions at Purok 4, Barangay Camantangan, Montevista, Davao de Oro at around 9:40 Tuesday morning, Oct. 24.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 identified the slain candidate for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) as Alvin Bengil Garcia, 32 years old, single, and a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Camantangan, Montevista, Davao de Oro.

Garcia is incumbent Village Councilor of said barangay.

The victim was brought to Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital for immediate medical intervention, however, he was later declared dead by his attending physician.

Police investigation revealed the the victim on board his motorcycle with back rider, Jocelyn Agron, also an aspirant village councilor was travelling back to Barangay Camantangan proper, however,  two unidentified suspects accordingly also riding a motorcycle without plate number shot the victim with unknown caliber pistol hitting the victim's head. 

Garcia and Agron, alongside other SK candidates, were preparing for a scheduled “Pulong-pulong” at 4 p.m Tuesday afternoon when the incident took place.

Agron, who suffered minor injuries, was already discharged from the hospital.

Police probers are investigating the victim’s alleged relationship to a married woman that might be one of the possible motives.

Garcia’s lone opponent is his own aunt and said to be his close relative.
