Mati City Information Office in its report Wednesday night stated that the landslide occured around 11 a.m at Purok Sangay in said Barangay.
The landslide resulted to the isolation of seven puroks including Upper and Lower Cangusan, Proper Cangusan,Tabon-Tabon, New Camotes, Sta. Cruz, and Purok Biasong.
According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), residents in the area claimed that four people were buried by the landslide: a family of three on a motorbike passing by the area and a resident fishing near a creek.
A body of an unidentified adult male was retrieved from the landslide area.
Teams from CDRRMO, police, military, Bureau of Fire Protection, and City Social Welfare Development Office were in the area to conduct search and rescue operations.
However, at 6:04 p.m., the operation was temporarily stopped and will resume 7 a.
m. Thursday (Dec. 29).
