Tawi-Tawi lass gets gold at 32nd SEA Games
DAVAO CITY---Fatima Juwak Amirul, a native of Tawi-Tawi province, received congratulations from the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC) for her outstanding performance at the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games, which wad held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from May 5 to May 17.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and the Philippines were honored when Amirul, a Philippine Women's Soft Tennis Team member, won a gold medal at the competition.

The BSC praised Amirul for her perseverance, hard work, great athletic talent, teamwork, sportsmanship, and pride in her country.

The BSC complimented Amirul for her contributions to soft tennis and remarked that her success is evidence of the Philippines' dedication to sporting achievement.

At the SEA Games, where more than 12,000 competitors from 11 nations compete in more than 30 sports disciplines, Amirul's victory is significant for the Philippines.

The 32nd Southeast Asian Games, initially scheduled for 2020 but postponed because of the Covid-19 outbreak, are being held in Cambodia for the first time.

Inspiring future generations of athletes to pursue excellence and uphold the nation's honor, Amirul's triumph is a source of pride for the Bangsamoro and the Philippines.

The BSC extended its gratitude to Amirul and all Filipino competitors at the 32nd SEA Games, hoping their accomplishments will spur additional support for and financial investment in the nation's sports sector. 

As for their months of training for the SEA Games finally paying off with a gold medal and a historic accomplishment, Amirul thanked her on her Facebook page.

“After months of preparing for the SEA games, we reached our goal of getting the gold medal and making history. It feels surreal, a dream come true. I’m still on cloud nine. This is an unforgettable experience and a significant milestone in my life,” Amirul said. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
