Negros Occidental rules Samal Island-PSC Beach Volleyball Open
DAVAO CITY---The visiting team from Negros Occidental won the championship crown from both men's and women's divisions in the Samal Island-Philippine Sports Commission Beach Volleyball Open held at the Kaputian Beach Park in the Island Garden City of Samal from May 21-22.

The male spikers of Negros Occidental Beach Volleyball Club A defeated the veteran pair of Calvin Sarte and John Ashley Jacob of Davao City in straight sets 21-17 and 21-18.

The Deanne Neil De Pedro and Elgie Ronquillo team won P15,000 cash, medals, and trophy.

Sarte and Jacob, for their part, won P10,000 as second placers with medals and trophies as well.

In the distaff side, the lady spikers of  Negros Occidental Beach Volleyball Club beat Cagayan de Oro team A composed of Babylove Barbon and Hannah Xyrah Cabansay 12-21, 21-18, and 15-12.

The pair of Honey Grace Cordero and Mary Jolyn Ebro won P15,000 cash, medals, and trophy.

Barbon and Cabansay won P10,000 as second placers with medals and trophies as well.

On the second day of the event, Davaoeno Commissioner Charles Raymond Maxey attended the event.

A total of 16 women's and 20 men's teams participated in the two-day tournament. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
