JMC slays Titans and Liceo de Cagayan 70-63 to win the PCCL Mindanao crown

This developed after the host Jose Maria College Kings beat the visiting Liceo de Cagayan University Titans of Cagayan de Oro City 70-63 on April 3 at the Davao City Recreation Center, more popularly known as Almendras Gym, to win the coveted Mindanao crown of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL).

The Kings rely on their experience, defense, and team chemistry to defeat the Titans.

The visiting Titans started strong in the game, leading 18-17 in the first quarter behind the outstanding performances of high-flying Earl Laniton and forward Evan Agbong.

The Kings made a strong effort in the second quarter behind the hot shooting of Arvie Poyos and Rico Quimco to take the lead at the half, 33-29.

In the third canto, the Kings continued their hot shooting while the Titans had difficulty finding the hoops as most of their shots would not fall.

Entering the fourth quarter, the Kings had a comfortable 47-39 lead.

The Titans made a last-ditch effort to chase the Kings in the fourth quarter, but their efforts were futile.

Aside from the PCCL Mindanao crown, the Kings also got a slot to compete in the PCCL Visayas-Mindanao finals against the dangerous Visayas qualifier Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias Titans from Victorias City, Negros Oriental, on May 2-4 at the same venue.

The Kings and Titans will face each other in a best-of-three affair, with the winner advancing to the PCCL National Finals in Metro Manila.

The first game of the Kings-Titans clash begins on May 2 at 3:30 p.m.
