DAVAO CITY---The 32nd Southeast Asian Games were held in the Chroy Changvar Convention Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Saturday, May 6.
Jaymark Rodelas competed in the men's individual obstacle course race, and his sacrifices paid off as he eventually won the gold medal.
Rodelas, 35, said he gave up his job as an English teacher at a high school to devote the last four years to developing his trade.
Rodelas, a nephew of long jump champion Elma Muros-Posadas, claimed that after settling for bronze at the 2019 edition hosted in Manila, he has his sights set on the SEAG gold medal.
Kevin Jeffrey Pascua won the gold medal at that time.
This time, however, things turned out differently, as Rodelas won his first SEAG gold with a time of 25.194 seconds, beating Pascua, who took home the silver with a time of 26.814 seconds.(Romeo Braceros Jr,)
