DavNor SEA Games gold medalist to athletes: Always chase your dreams
DAVAO CITY— A veteran ultra-marathoner and employee of the provincial government of Davao del Norte has recently won a gold medal for obstacle racing team competition in the Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

In his Facebook account,  Elias Tabac posted that he is grateful and happy with his golden performance and calls on athletes to always trust the process and chase their dreams no matter how hard it is.

"But the best thing in this journey is the person I have become in the process. I want to remind and encourage all aspiring athletes to trust the process, never stop chasing your goals, and hold on to your dream. Don't let uncertainty or fear prevent you from achieving your goals. Remember that becoming a champion is a way of life at all times.  Let's keep aiming for excellence in whatever we do, and let's motivate others to do the same," Tabac post reads.

In the same post, Tabac also thanked God for his victory.

"Above all, I want to praise God for guiding and pouring power and strength into me and my teammates. Thank You, Lord, for protecting us in our training and giving us all we need to achieve this victory. Without His blessings, I would not have been able to achieve this incredible feat. All the honor and glory belongs to You!".

Last December 3-5, 2021,  Tabac made history as the first Filipino and Asian male who finished in the top 20 Spartan World Championships recently held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

The Filipino racer clocked in 2 hours and 50 minutes to grab the 19th spot overall in the men's elite annual competition event at the world-renowned Liwa Desert.

The lone and trusted word record data gatherer, Guinness, recognized Tabac for winning the World's Highest Obstacle Course Race (OCR) and ALTITUDE OCR World Championships in Tanzania.

Tabac earlier won the championship in the men's category against 21 other countries worldwide in Tanzania.

Tabac clocked at 1:15 as he zoomed along ten sets of physical challenges in the form of obstacles, including crawling, carrying, climbing, hanging, jumping, balancing, and trail running.

Fellow Filipino, Monolito Divina, finished second, and American Daniel Turner third.

Tabac is happy and proud to represent the Philippines in the 12 days world endurance challenge.

“Para ni sa Ginoo, sa akong pamilya, ug sa Probinsya sa Davao del Norte ang akong kadaugan,” he said.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
