DAVAO CITY---The dream of the young Gilas girls to win a gold medal in the ongoing U-16 Women's Asian Basketball Championship at the Prince Hamza Arena in Amman, Jordan, is now within reach.
This developed after the team got a slot to compete in the semifinals of the international basketball tournament sanctioned by FIBA.
After three games in Group A, the Gilas girls got the slot after they went undefeated.
On June 26, they won their third game by beating Samoa 94-65.
Kristan Geyl Yumul led Gilas Women with 22 points (8/21 FG, 5/15 3pts) to go with 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in 20 minutes of play.
Naomi Natalie Panganiban also had a solid game with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
The team previously beat Indonesia and Syria.
The team will face the winner between Kazakhstan and Samoa in the semifinals, which will be held on June 28. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
