DAVAO CITY-A police officer assigned in the 2nd Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company won a gold medal in the World Police and Fire Games 2023 at Winnipeg, Canada, on August 2.
Police Staff Sergeant Rodel Bustamante bagged the gold in the Men's Masters 40+ 5,000 meter walk.
In a Facebook post, Bustamante said he is happy to win the gold medal again for the Philippines and Philippine National Police.
He won the gold in the same event at Rotterdam, Netherlands, on July 24, 2022.
In 2019, Bustamante also won a silver medal in the same event in Chengdu, China.
More than 10,000 competitors from 70 different countries partcipate in the WPFG2023.
They competed in 63 sports, including CrossFit, athletics, water polo, kite surfing, and the ultimate firefighter.
The World Police and Fire Games 2022 was organized to establish encounters between first responders. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
