In his video message, Go, who serves as the Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, reminded eligible yet unvaccinated residents to help the country return to normalcy by getting their complete jabs against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, as part of his efforts to ensure that more Filipinos get convenient access to quality healthcare, Go offered assistance to those in need of medical attention and advised them to visit Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City and Siargao Island Medical Center in Dapa where there are Malasakit Centers that may help with their hospital expenses.
Designed for particularly poor and indigent patients, the Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where Filipinos can conveniently access medical assistance programs offered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. There are now 152 Malasakit Centers nationwide.
Go’s team conducted the distribution activities at the Barangay Washington Function Hall. The team handed out snacks, shirts, umbrellas, grocery packs, masks, vitamins, and balls for basketball and volleyball to a total of 26 residents. They likewise gave away cellular phones and shoes to select individuals. In addition, the residents received financial assistance from the DSWD.
Committed to improving the province’s delivery of public service, Go, who also serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, supported several projects, such as the construction of flood mitigation structures along Surigao River, rehabilitation of several roads, and construction of causeway in Brgy. Taft.
Moreover, Go stays true to his commitment to provide more poor communities access to quality yet affordable healthcare services as he supported the construction of eight Super Health Centers in San Benito, Del Carmen, Alegria, Claver, Dapa, General Luna, and another two in Surigao City.
Advocated by Go, Super Health Centers are medium versions of polyclinics and are bigger than rural health units, which offer basic services such as out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit, among others.
(PR)
