Duterte’s office staff distributed emergency food packs, hot porridge, and breakfast to the flood victims in barangays 2-A, 5-A, 8-A, 9-A, 10-A, 19-B, Matina Gravahan, and Barangay Maa.
Several barangays in the city were flooded while authorities ordered an evacuation on Tuesday evening following a heavy rainstorm, which caused rivers' water levels to rise and forced the 1,093 families or 4,300 individuals to leave their houses.
The First Congressional District Office assured that all victims were given appropriate assistance.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) had issued water level warnings in some of the city's rivers. Davao River, Lasang River, and Bunawan River were under code red, while Talomo River and Matina River were at an orange level.
CDRRMO head Alfredo Baloran said that three major rivers in the region were swollen by the rain, adding that authorities had to block some roads to traffic until Wednesday morning as a portion of the roadway connecting Lasang and Bunawan was submerged.
Davao City, Davao del Norte, and Davao Oriental experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on February 21 at 7 p.m. due to a localized thunderstorm that led to flooding in various barangays.
There were no reported injuries or missing in the incident.
