Davao del Sur flooding displaces 113 families
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 11 confirms that up to 113 families in Davao del Sur had been affected by last night’s flooding and flash flood due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting the region.

OCD 11 Information Officer Franz Irag at the AFP-PNP Press Corps briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel Wednesday (June 21) said that four towns in Davao del Sur including Kiblawan, Sulop, Sta.Cruz, and Digos City have experienced flooding.

He said three houses in Digos City were totally damaged and 10 were destroyed.

He said some affected families were already allowed to go back to their homes after the floodwater started to subside.

No reports yet in terms of the damages in infrastructure and agriculture.

OCD 11 continuously monitors and coordinates with respective concerned local government units especially during these rainy seasons.

“Base sa PAG-ASA naa pa ta sa rainy season before mag-take effect and el niño,” Irag said.

According to Irag, OCD 11 has already issued a memorandum order to all local disaster risk reduction and management centers (DRRMC) to conduct close monitoring in their respective area of responsibilities and prepositioning of their response assets, to include other assistance that may be provided to the affected families.

Irag also encourages local DRRMCs to regularly conduct inventory of their evacuation centers for any eventualities.
