Davao City’s Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) had urged Dabawenyos to remain vigilant and continue practicing the Culture of Security as the city marks its 4th year of being insurgency-free on March 24.

“Bisan pa man insurgency-free na ta, we must remain vigilant. Ginaawhag nato ang tana’ng Dabawenyo nga magpadayon sa pag-cooperate sa atoang security cluster para mamaintain nato ang peace and order sa Davao City, " Retired Police Colonel Angel Sumagaysay, PSSO Head, told the City Information Office.

For decades, several communities in the upland areas of the city faced challenges brought by armed conflict which also resulted in limited access to opportunities.

Through strengthened governance, inclusive development, and sustained peacebuilding efforts, on March 24, 2022, Davao City marked a historic milestone as it was declared insurgency-free.

“Padayon gihapon ta sa pag-implement sa atoang culture of security sa siyudad aron mahimong magmalungtaron ang atoang status as insurgency-free ug masiguro ang safety and security sa tanang Dabawenyo labi na ‘tong mga naa sa atoang GIDAs,” Sumagaysay added.

The City Government of Davao, through the Peace 911, in collaboration with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Task Force Davao, the Philippine National Police, IP leaders, and the community continues to deliver programs and services to the city’s GIDAs, as well as provide assistance and initiatives that promote inclusive development, strengthen community organizations, protect ancestral domains, and support sustainable livelihoods have helped empower communities to take part in shaping their own future.
