PRO 11 spokesman Major Catherine Dela Rey in a press briefing on Wednesday, September 27 reported that 36 long and short firearms and 18 bladed weapons have been confiscated from these individuals who violated the election gun ban since it started last August 28.
Out of 32 persons, 11 were arrested by the Davao City Police Office.
Dela Rey said they will intensify implementing the gun ban law as the campaign period for BSKE is nearing.
The Comelec has set the gun ban period for the BSKE from August 28 to November 29 this year.
The suspects are facing cases for violation of illegal possession of firearms and in relation to Omnibus election code.
Meanwhile, at least eight barangays in Davao Region have been considered by PRO 11 as areas of concern under yellow category in the upcoming BSKE.
Dela Rey said these barangays in Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte, which she did not mention, had previous election-related incidents.
According to her, they will be deploying more police to secure these areas to ensure that there will be no disruption of the whole process of elections.
The police will also beef up their security and monitoring as well of the activities of the respective candidates.
