Speaking before a mammoth crowd on Tuesday night’s proclamation rally, Sara highlighted her major accomplishments as Davao City mayor.
She said Davao City is now the 4th Most Competitive City in the country. This was based on the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) for year 2021.
She also said the city is debt-free. The city has entered into many loans, but Sara made it sure all loans are paid under her administration.
The stability of the city’s peace and order situation resulted from the efficiency of the city’s police. Sara said Davao City Police Office have been awarded the Best City Police Office with no human rights complaint.
“We also brought down the decades long guerilla movement in Paquibato District in four years,” Sara said.
Paquibato District is a known lair of the New People’s Army and has been lagging behind in terms of socio-economic development because of the peace and order situation.
However, Sara’s administration focused on transforming the once NPA-stronghold Paquibato into an economic and peace zone, which it indeed achieved after four years of struggle.
To sustain the peace and order stability in the area, Sara created the Davao Peacebuilding Office (DPO) to ensure the continuing implementation of the PEACE 911 project in Paquibato District. (BY JUDY QUIROS)
