High airfares to Davao linked to strong travel demand — City Tourism Office

DAVAO CITY — The high airfare prices for flights from Manila and other parts of the country to Davao City are being attributed to strong passenger demand, according to the Davao City Tourism Operations Office.

CTOO  Head Willenito Tormis said the increase in airfare is largely driven by the high demand for flights going to Davao, particularly during periods when more people are traveling to the city.

Tormis explained that airlines adjust their fares based on market demand, with ticket prices tending to rise when flights are heavily booked.

The high airfare has raised concerns among travelers who plan to visit Davao, especially during peak travel periods and major city events.

Tormis said the situation reflects the strong interest in Davao as a tourism and business destination, although the city continues to recognize the need for accessible air connectivity for visitors.

“High demand” remains one of the key factors affecting airfare prices, Tormis said.
