According to DCPO acting City Director Colonel Mannan Muarip the routine inspections and information dissemination to business establishments forms part of the police’s preventive strategy to preempt lawless elements from committing crimes, particularly theft and burglary. These activities are intended to encourage establishments to adopt basic security practices, such as avoiding leaving large amounts of cash unattended and ensuring proper security within their premises.
“These initiatives are not an indication of a worsening peace and order situation but rather a manifestation of our commitment to remain proactive and vigilant in safeguarding the community," Muarip emphasized.
The DCPO likewise assures the public that police visibility operations, patrols, and other law enforcement activities remain in full implementation across the city. Police stations and operational units continue to intensify beat patrols, mobile patrols, and community engagements to sustain the peace and order that the people of Davao City deserve.
The DCPO also encourages business establishments to strengthen their physical security measures, particularly by installing quality anti-theft locks on roll-up doors, reinforced door hardware, and other reliable locking mechanisms to prevent unauthorized entry. Business owners are likewise advised to ensure that doors, windows, and other access points are properly secured, as strong locks and reinforced entry points significantly reduce the chances of burglary and forced entry.
The DCPO reminds the public to exercise responsibility when sharing information on social media. While the police welcome constructive feedback from the community, spreading unverified or invalidated information without proper coordination or appropriate forum may create unnecessary alarm and misperception among the public.
“We strongly encourage the community to coordinate directly with the Davao City Police Office or the nearest police station should there be concerns or clarifications regarding security matters. Our office remains open and committed to transparency and partnership with the community,” Muarip said.
Muarip calls on all residents, business owners, and stakeholders to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by staying vigilant, reporting suspicious activities, and working hand in hand with authorities in maintaining the peace, order, and security of Davao City.
“Peace and security are shared responsibilities. With the cooperation of the community and the continued commitment of our police officers, we will sustain the safe environment that Davao City is known for,” Muarip said.
