Magno, in his message during the closing ceremony of the three-day Davao Investment Conference (DAVAO ICON) 2023 on Wednesday, July 19 at SMX Convention Center in Lanang here emphasized the importance of the business sector in the country’s development.
“Data never lies, and as shown by the Philippine statistics, Mindanao contributed 7.2% to the Philippines’ GRDP,” Magno said.
“The past three years was not easy for everybody because of the pandemic.However, with your continuous effort to help the government , Davao City has been recobering very well. More business companies have been showing interest to invest here,” Magno said in a statement.
He said the Marcos administration recognizes the help and support of the business sector , which is a major partner in their policy towards a “Bagong Pilipinas.”
“That is why a good relationship between the government and the business sector is very crucial to maintain the economic stability of a place. And the good relationship between the chamber and the local government unit, as well ad the national government, is very vivid. Taking for example, the good employment rate of the cit,” he further said.
Davao ICON was participated in by 300 delegates made up of local and foreign traders, public officials from various national agencies, and the economic corps from the embassies of Bangladesh, Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Up to 30 local businesses had also exhibited their products and services.
The conference aimed to highlight potential investments in the economic region of Brunei Darussalam - Indonesia - Malaysia - Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).
