The Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP) for the previous planning period, 2017-2022 identified the DCCBRP as among its priority infrastructure projects for Davao Region that shall contribute to attaining the Infrastructure Sub-sector outcome on Internal Circulation, Mobility and External Linkages Enhanced.
The DCCBRP is likewise identified as a priority road transport project in the Infrastructure Modernization for Davao City (IM4 Davao) Master Plan which was formulated by the City Government of Davao, and assisted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) XI. This IM4 Davao Master Plan serves as Davao City’s blueprint for its urban infrastructure development.
Since the start of the Project’s civil works in CY 2017, RDC XI, through its Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) XI conducted regular monitoring activities and provided recommendations to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XI, as the Implementing Agency (IA), to ensure the Project’s timely completion. The Bago Aplaya-Tulip Drive Segment of DCCBRP shall provide traffic relief to the already congested Davao-Cotabato Road en route to the City Center. The entire stretch of the DCCBRP of 16.935 kilometers, aims to reduce travel time from the southernmost part of the City to Central Business District from 45 to 15 minutes.
The realization of these big-ticket infrastructure projects which are given priority by the RDC XI shall be key drivers in Davao Region’s sustained economic growth and accelerated transformation. (PR/NEDA XI)
