The OPAMINE was instrumental in the realization of the said project, according to South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. who described the P655.8 million project as his pet project for his province.
In his message, President Marcos Jr. acknowledged the importance of bringing food to the tables of each Filipino households. That is why, the president said, it is important to have projects like this that would not only ensure food security but food sufficiency as well at prices that the Filipinos could afford.
He said that to achieve this, there should be consolidation of farmlands so that mechanization would become doable.
The South Cotabato’s Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization Program with a 1.4-hectare Integrated Rice Processing Center is now scheduled for construction.
The mechanization program aims to create an efficient rice production and marketing system that will boost production, improve grain quality, and amplify the global competitiveness, using good agricultural practices. (PR/OPAMINE)
