Comia made the confirmation during the send-off ceremony of security and safety personnel who will be deployed to provide the maximum security coverage, including traffic and direction control, and public safety services at various places in the city particularly in all private and public cemeteries beginning October 30.
Comia, however, said the security sector will not lower its guards down and must not be complacent, instead they will continue to be vigilant and alert.
“As of now, wala po tayong direct threat sa Davao City. Kakausap ko lang po kanina sa lahat ng Intel units inside and outside of Davao City, wala tayong direct threats,” Comia said.
Comia assures Task Force Davao is fully committed to perform its tasks in support of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to ensure the safety and security of the entire city.
He urged all units, all safety and cluster members to do their share in protecting the city against criminalities during the commemoration of Undas.
Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) head Angel Sumagaysay said the city is aiming for a zero crime incident during Undas.
Sumagaysay, who also reads the message of Mayor Sebastian Duterte, said that the city is expecting a strengthened collaboration among the security sector for top quality security services for the Kalag-kalag.
“May you continue to empower your units and enhance its competencies in order to serve and better protect our constituents,” Duterte said.
DCPO Deputy Director for Administration Lieutenant Colonel Jed Clamor, meanwhile, said that he hopes the security plan for Undas will be followed to achieve the zero incidents during the whole duration of Undas.
The city is deploying more than 13,000 security and safety forces to ensure public security during the long weekend.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rodolfo Azurin, had earlier ordered that the police will go on full alert status this weekend.
Azurin said all police stations and units were ordered to be visible in cemeteries and other critical areas to ensure public security during the long weekend.
The government has declared October 31 a non-working special holiday to allow people to visit their dead.
He also directed police to be visible along travel routes, transport terminals, public and private cemeteries, and other places of convergence.
